Sally is the Account Director Sauce has been waiting for. A skilled communications professional, she has worked across a diverse range of in-house, agency and media roles over her 15 years in the industry.
Originally a journalist, Sally’s ambition has always been to combine a love for the country with a love for writing and communications and having a career that gives her the opportunity to explore rural and regional Australia and meet incredible people in order to share their stories is what makes her tick.
Sally attributes her love for the country from time spent as a teenager helping to muster stock on her grandmother’s sheep, cattle and grain property near Dalby in Queensland’s Darling Downs region. While she’s not as adept at horse work these days, she still calls herself incredibly lucky to be able to combine her passion for rural industries and a career in corporate communications, all while living in Sydney.
Before joining Sauce, Sally managed communications for Guide Dogs NSW/ACT and was responsible for exponentially raising the organisation’s profile across traditional and new media outlets; work which significantly contributed to the organisation being named Australia’s Most Trusted Charity two years in a row.
Previously, she was the Communications Manager for Wesfarmers Landmark and a Senior Consultant at agency OneProfile, managing media and investor relations, issues management, stakeholder advocacy and corporate writing for financial services, telecommunications, human resources and agribusiness clients.
An eternal optimist, Sally brings colour and cheer to team Sauce and radiates positivity while applying her sharp eyes to our clients’ challenges.
Sauce’s favourite bit about Sally:
Sally is that rarest combination of a super sharp professional and genuinely nice person. You can tell the minute you meet Sally that she hails from the bush; it’s her open personality, her warm nature and that down to earth quality that is hard to beat. Building relationships is her absolute strength and it shows in how quickly she’s become an integral part of not only our team but our clients’ teams too.
Sally’s favourite bit about Sauce:
Sally has not one but two favourite bits about working at Sauce. Firstly, the fact that she has found a team of supportive, talented and nurturing PR professionals who are passionate about bringing rural and regional Australia to life. Secondly, the fact that even though Sally lives in Sydney, working at Sauce means she gets to have the best of both her city and country worlds. What more could she want!
Sally’s favourite Sauce success:
Sally’s favourite Sauce success to date is securing a group of key foodie writers and bloggers to attend and cover a luncheon event for one of Australia’s leading family-owned wineries. The media table was easy to identify in the crowd because every course was routinely propped, positioned and photographed before a single fork was lifted! The most exciting outcome for Sally was an Instagram post from UrbanList Melbourne featuring a slow-motion video of our client’s famous red wine being poured into a glass.
