Renowned communications professionals by day, the Sauce team’s talents also stack up in other ways. Here’s what Account Directors Amanda Whitley and Polly McDougall get up to when they’re not delivering strategies of the PR kind.
After discovering Zumba a year ago, Amanda recently took her love for this worldwide fitness phenomenon to another level, becoming a certified instructor!
“The thing I love about Zumba is that it’s so much fun – at the end of a class you feel disappointment, rather than relief, that it’s over!” she says.
“Regardless of your age, shape or fitness level, it’s a really joyful way to spend an hour and get fit at the same time!”
Amanda was recently one of a group of Canberra Zumba instructors who participated in a Party in Pink Zumbathon, raising money for breast cancer research. (You'll find her at the top left of the image!).
“Around 150 people attended and raised over $3000 for the cause – it’s wonderful to see people moving together for such a great cause!”
For Polly, playing netball is a chance to let off steam after a busy day at the office and connect with like-minded women in the Ardlethan and Ariah Park community. In what was a welcome bonus, Polly and her Northern Jets A-Grade side took out the recent Farrer Football Netball League grand final!
The deciding game was an enthralling one – and started as a close contest between the Jets and their opposition, the Charles Sturt University (CSU) Bushsows. By half-time, however, Polly’s team had the upper hand, eventually going on to win 44-34.
A specialist defender, Polly took the court as Goal Defence before moving into Wing Defence in the second half, where she was able to put her height to good use in slowing down the CSU attack.
“I’ve had lots of fun playing with the Jets this season,” says Polly. “And becoming part of the local community along the way – the grand final win was just the icing on the cake!”
