Leeton business woman named National Deputy President of peak industry body
16 May 2018
Liane Sayer-Roberts MPRIA, Director of Leeton-based public relations agency Sauce Communications, has been elected as the new National Deputy President of the Public Relations Institute of Australia (PRIA).
Liane’s appointment to the industry’s peak body proves location is no barrier to success and adds to an already impressive year for the Riverina entrepreneur who picked up her seventh-consecutive PR agency of the year win in February.
Liane joins Sylvia Bell FPRIA, who was also elected National President on the PRIA Board of Directors by members at the EGM this week. In accepting the roles, both Sylvia and Liane praised outgoing National President, Jenny Muir FPRIA and Deputy President Jacquie Ray MPRIA for their dedication and contributions to the PRIA over the last two years.
“We are excited to be leading the PRIA Board and picking up the baton that’s been so capably carried by Jenny and Jacquie and are looking forward to further increasing support and engagement for our profession,” said Liane.
“It is a true joy of mine to work in our industry and to now have the opportunity to play a role in shaping its future is a privilege.”
Sylvia and Liane bring extensive public relations and communications expertise to the PRIA Board and are focused on delivering the Board’s strategy for 2018-19 and professional development for our PRIA members and the industry.
The PRIA provides professional support, education, networking and recognition to over 4,000 practitioners and 100 consultancies across Australia. This includes PRIA’s Golden Target Awards, which have recognised and set the benchmark for excellence in the public relations sector.
In addition to her new role as Deputy President of the PRIA Board of Directors, Liane is also the NSW Government nominee on the Sydney School of Entrepreneurship Board of Directors.
Liane has grown Sauce Communications from sole trader status in 2004, to a consultancy with staff and offices in Leeton, Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne. Sauce specialises in working with medium to large commercial and government clients that are based in, represent or need to reach rural and regional audiences, including SunRice, Australia Post and De Bortoli Wines.
